Pumas striker Eduardo Herrera is set to complete a £1.5million move to Rangers, according to a Daily Record report.

The newspaper claims the Mexican arrived in Glasgow on Sunday night to seal a move to the Gers, after spending Saturday in Cardiff watching the Champions League final.

It is said the 28-year-old is in favour of a move to the UK, but he will have to return to Mexico to file the paperwork on Monday night once negotiations are complete.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has previously worked with Herrera during his time in charge at Mexican outfit Santa Laguna.

This comes after the Scottish Sun reported Pumas would be willing to sell the attacker to the Glasgow giants for a “cut-price deal”, if they agreed to install a 20 per cent sell-on clause in his contract.

The 28-year-old spent the second-half of the season on loan at Veracruz, scoring two goals in eight league appearances for the club.

Meanwhile earlier in the 2016-17 campaign, he played 21 league and cup games for Pumas, scoring four goals.

Herrera has been capped by Mexico on nine occasions, scoring three goals, making his debut in a 1-0 friendly win over Senegal in February of 2015.

Caixinha has already completed two signings this summer in Bruno Alves and Ryan Jack, but it is set to be a busy transfer window for the Gers.

Portuguese duo Dalcio and Fabio Cardoso are set to become the third and fourth signings of Caixinha’s summer overhaul and will undergo medicals at the club on Monday ahead of their respective moves, according to a Daily Record report.
