Celtic could further their cause in the Champions League by solving their central-midfield dilemma with the signing of Reading sensation John Swift.
The 22-year-old has quickly developed a reputation as one of the best midfielders yet to play in the Premier League after firing Reading to a Championship play-off place last season.
Scoring nine goals, the midfield star also provided eight assists as he inspired Jaap Stam’s side to third place in England’s second tier.
Swift is currently with England’s Under-21 side in Poland and was a key player in the side that disposed of the hosts 3-0 on Thursday night and booked the Young Lions’ spot in the semi-finals.
Able to play in the number 10 role or in central midfield, Swift is a rare example of the dying art that is a box-to-box style of play and that trait would be pivotal in Celtic’s bid to maintain their dominance in Scottish football.
