Andrea Radrizzani has taken to Twitter to praise Lewis Cook and his England Under-20 teammates for their World Cup triumph.

The Leeds United owner congratulated the young guns for a “great achievement” after they beat Venezuela 1-0 in South Korea on Saturday to taste global success.

Responding to a Leeds supporter who posted a social media message that Elland Road academy product Cook had become the first player to captain an England side to World Cup victory since Bobby Moore in 1966, Radrizzani hailed the midfielder and his youthful colleagues.

Cook was an integral figure for the England Under-2os side with his authoritative performances in central midfield.

It is a brilliant end to the season for the 20-year-old following a difficult debut campaign at Bournemouth following his £6million transfer from Leeds last summer.

Cook missed three months due to injury and then struggled for game time although he did start three of the Cherries’ last four Premier League matches before the domestic campaign ended.

He is now looking to build upon his success with the national age-group side to play regularly for Eddie Howe’s side next season.
