Alan Pardew has been installed by bookmakers as the odds-on favourite to become the new Leeds manager.

Sky Bet priced the former Newcastle United and Crystal Palace boss at 10/11 on Wednesday afternoon to take over from Garry Monk, who resigned 13 days ago.

Pardew’s sharp change of odds come after he was 4/1 on Tuesday night to take the reins at Leeds, behind then favourite Claudio Ranieri, who was 5/2.

But 2016 Premier League winner Ranieri drifted to 7/2 on Wednesday as Pardew was installed by bookies at the front of the race.

Pardew, 55, has been out of work since he was sacked by Palace last December and replaced by Sam Allardyce, who managed to keep the club in the Premier League before resigning two days after the season ended.

Leeds are looking for their eighth manager in four years following the shock departure of Monk, who has been strongly linked with the Middlesbrough job.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani revealed on Twitter on Tuesday night that the club will start interviewing candidates for the vacant post later this week as he insisted that time will be taken to find the correct candidate.

Intriguingly, Ranieri’s agent Steve Kutner insisted on Wednesday that there was “no truth” to rumours that the veteran Italian was being considered by the Yorkshire giants.
