Leeds United coaching trio Pep Clotet, James Beattie and Darryl Flahavan will leave the club following the appointment of new manager Thomas Christiansen, it was confirmed on Monday.

Leeds director of football Victor Orta revealed at Christiansen’s unveiling to the media that the backroom team hired by former manager Garry Monk will not be a part of the new regime.

This brings to an end the 12-month spell at Elland Road of assistant manager Clotet, first-team coach Beattie and goalkeeping coach Flahavan.

Orta was quoted as confirming the shake-up as he sat alongside Christiansen, as quoted by the personal Twitter account of Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay.

Like Monk, the trio all signed 12-month contracts when they joined United and their deals are set to expire within the next fortnight.

It has been widely reported that Beattie will link up with Monk for a third time at Middlesbrough after the former Leeds manager was appointed 10 days ago by the recently relegated Premier League club.

However, Clotet is not expected to join Monk amid speculation that the pair, who worked together at both Swansea and Leeds, did not always see eye to eye about coaching matters.
