Leeds United are readying an approach for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink as their managerial pursuit takes a new twist, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that Elland Road old boy Hasselbaink is “under consideration” to take over the post vacated by Garry Monk when he resigned 17 days ago.

The Mirror report that former Leeds owner Massimo Cellino was keen to hold talks with the former Leeds striker last year but he rejected the opportunity and Monk was appointed as manager.

It is said that Hasselbaink has once again come under the radar even though Andrea Radrizzani is now leading the search after taking over as the sole owner of the club.

The 45-year-old, who spent two years as the spearhead of the Leeds attack in the late 1990s, is out of work after being axed by QPR in the middle of last season but he made a bi impact during his first job at Burton Albion.

Radrizzani revealed on Twitter that he is interviewing candidates this week as he steps up his search to replace Monk, who was appointed by Middlesbrough on Friday.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that Radrizzani is weighing up an approach to his club’s Championship rivals Reading for permission to hold talks with their manager Jaap Stam.

Stam, whose Reading side suffered Championship play-off final heartache when they lost on penalties to Huddersfield, is behind only Alan Pardew in the betting, who is 5/4.

The Championship giants are looking for their eighth manager in four years after Monk handed in his resignation.

Radrizzani has said he is willing to take his time in order to secure the right man to lead the team next season.
