Manchester United will not continue their pursuit of Michael Keane or Virgil van Dijk after securing the services of Victor Lindelof, according to Sky Sports News.

The broadcaster claimed on its transfers live blog on Saturday evening (21.54) that Van Dijk, Keane and one other centre-back were being considered, but after Lindelof completes his move, the Manchester giants will not sign another centre-back this summer.

United announced the news that they had come to an agreement with Benfica over a transfer for Lindelof, 22, on their official website on Saturday evening, but it is said the move is subject to a medical, international clearance and personal terms.

This comes after The Sun claimed the Red Devils were the favourites to sign Keane, although Spurs, Liverpool and Everton were all interested as well.

United sold the 24-year-old centre-back to Burnley for just £2million three years ago, but it looks as though he will fetch £30million this summer after a fine 2016/17 campaign.

Keane was one of Burnley’s top performers last term, making 39 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, a previous Sky Sports report stated United were interested in signing van Dijk, who has also attracted interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

The 25-year-old Dutch defender had been a mainstay of Southampton’s back line prior in 2016/17 to picking up a season-ending injury in January, playing 30 league and cup games.
