Pep Clotet has revealed on Twitter that he is severing his links with Garry Monk after the Leeds coaching overhaul was confirmed.

The Yorkshire giants announced on Monday that Clotet would leave end his 12-month spell at Elland Road when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Clotet, whose Twitter biography still titles himself as the Leeds assistant manager, revealed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night that he will not be following Monk to Middlesbrough, where he was appointed as the new boss 11 days ago.

Spaniard Clotet, 40, was also the number two to Monk at Premier League club Swansea but their association will not extend to a fourth year.

Clotet hinted that he intend to return to top-level management as he explained that “it’s now time for me to move on and look for a new stage in my career”.

He reflected on “three amazing years” alongside Monk and insisted the younger man, who is 38, “truly deserves” to thrive at Championship club Boro next season.

Clotet will leave Leeds at a time of radical change at the club among the senior management, coaching and administrative staff.

New head coach Thomas Christiansen has named Julio Banuelos as his number two after they worked together at APOEL and AEK Larnaca, Ivan Torres is the new fitness coach and Abad will coach the keepers.

They replace Clotet, James Beattie and Darryl Flahavan, with the latter duo expected to join Monk at Middlesbrough.
