Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen has stated that their Championship opener against Bolton will be “tough” but his team will be “ready” for the fixture.

The Yorkshire outfit will travel to the recently promoted side on August 6 after the entire Football League fixture list was announced on Wednesday morning.

Christiansen will be hoping to avoid defeat in his first game in charge after he joined the club earlier on this month.

The former Spain under-21 international will have tough boots to fill after Garry Monk, who quit the club last month, guided them to within five points of the play-offs last term.

Nonetheless, after the fixtures for the 2017/18 season were announced, Christiansen delivered his honest verdict on the opening day game, as posted by the club’s official Twitter account.

“Bolton away will be a tough start to the season, but we will be ready” said Christiansen. “From the moment the players start training on Monday, we will have our sights set on 6th August, we want to start with a win.”

When Monk took charge of the club last summer, he suffered a heavy defeat against QPR on the opening day of the season.

Despite his poor start, he still managed to turn the club’s fortunes around which will give Christiansen belief that he can do the same if he gets off to a tough start.

After the Bolton clash, Christiansen will take on Preston North End and Fulham on home soil before rounding off the opening month with two away trips to recently relegated Sunderland and Midlands outfit Nottingham Forest.
