Leeds fans react to Vinnie Jones wanting to replace Monk

Vinnie Jones has claimed that he wants to replace Garry Monk as manager – and Leeds fans would love the idea of him being in charge.

Following Monk’s shock resignation on Thursday afternoon, former Whites midfielder Jones told his Twitter followers “give it to me” when referring to the possibility of becoming their next boss.

Added to that, a Leeds fans had urged the club icon to hand in his application form at Elland Road as the former hard-hitting player issued this response.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have former Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka as the 4/5 favourite to replace the recently-departed Monk, with Claudio Ranieri fetching a price of 9/2, with the Italian closely followed by Alan Pardew at 8/1.

More than likely, Jones is joking at becoming the club’s next manager and would more than likely want a suitable candidate to replace Monk in the dugout.

A number of supporters believe Jones becoming their next manager would result in a fighting spirit returning to the club which would also put certain players in their place.

Prior to his departure, on the last day of the Championship season, Monk claimed that left-back Charlie Taylor refused to play in the 1-1 draw at Wigan.

However, supporters think if Jones were to be in charge then players would not act that way because he would put them in their place.

Leeds finished off their campaign, five points outside of the top six, despite it looking highly likely that they would secure a play-off spot.

Nonetheless, one supporter told Vinnie “you get my vote”, while another stated “imagine the scenes” if he were to take charge and get them club into the Premier League.
