Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to speculation that Garry Monk is set to be offered a year’s extension of his deal at the club.
Sky Sports claim on their Twitter account that Leeds are “to exercise their option to extend Monk’s contract by a further 12 months”.
BREAKING: @LUFC to exercise their option to extend Garry Monk’s contract by a further 12 months #SSNHQ

Monk took the reins at Elland Road last summer when he signed a one-year contract and transformed the side from one that finished 13th in the Championship in 2015/16, to one which almost made the play-offs.
After occupying the top-six for much of the second-half of the season, a downturn in form saw Leeds eventually finish seventh.
However despite the drop-off in form, United fans remained loyal to Monk, seeing how far he had taken the club in such a short space of time.
Monk made more than 200 league appearances for Swansea over a 10 year spell, before making a move into management with the same club in February 2014.
After being sacked by the Swans a year later, Leeds offered him a second chance in management in the summer of 2016 and has not looked back since.
The majority of the Elland Road faithful reacted enthusiastically to the news Monk had been offered a new deal, and others felt he deserved to be offered a longer extension.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

12 months isn't good enough wouldn't be surprised if monk turns it down, 2/3 year deal he would be wanting #Lufc

Leeds fans will hope Monk signs the 12-month deal with a play-off finish very much on the cards next season.
