With all the speculation surrounding the club with the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley being linked with moves away from the club, Everton need to put a smile back on the faces of their fans and the best way would be to announce a signing.

One man who might not appear to be such a stellar signing but who can certainly add stability to Ronald Koeman’s side is Manchester City full-back Bacary Sagna.

The 34-year-old recently spoke to the Manchester Evening News and suggested that his future at the Etihad is still very unclear and he is keeping his options open.

The France international might be coming to the end of his footballing career but he could certainly offer Everton some stability in a position which is becoming increasingly more important as the game progresses.

Following a terrible injury whilst on international duty, Seamus Coleman isn’t likely to return to action until the new year and although youngster Nathan Holgate has done an admirable job as his replacement, Sagna will not only be able to provide the Everton back four with much more stability, he would be able to improve Holgate’s game as the 20-year-old would learn a lot from the Frenchman.

Sagna would also be the perfect signing for Everton because it would be a free transfer. Koeman would be taking a massive gamble looking for a full-back abroad when there is one with 10 years of Premier League experience under his belt waiting for the call in Manchester.

Everton is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and Sagna will definitely not be phased by its stature because he has already played at Arsenal and Manchester City and he has proved himself on the Champions League and international stage.

The Merseyside club will enter the Europa league next season and Sagna’s experience playing at the top level will only be a bonus to the club.

Ronald Koeman will be desperate to become the first manager in 22 years to win a major trophy with Everton and signing Sagna could potentially enhance the winning mentality at the club.

The Frenchman might not have won the league title during his long spell in England, but he has enjoyed cup success as he won the FA Cup in 2014 with Arsenal and he also picked up the League Cup with Manchester City last season.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has proved how free transfers can be a success in the Premier League and although Sagna is not in the same class as the Swedish striker, he can definitely come in and prove his worth at Goodison Park next season.
