Time is of the essence for Leeds United as they step up their new manager search, according to a reliable journalist.
Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Lee Sobot took to Twitter on Sunday night to deliver an update on the club’s plans to replace Garry Monk in the dugout.
Sobot reported on his personal Twitter account that he was unsure of timescales or even managerial targets but stressed that the club know they make must the new appointment quickly.
Have no idea on timescales or targets re new gaffer. But time obviously of the essence. Karanka links are obvious. #lufc

Sobot also added that it was “obvious” that former Middlesbrough manager would be considered by the Leeds hierarchy as one of the contenders.
This comes after he reported earlier in the day that Karanka’s former colleague at Boro, the recruitment chief Victor Orta, was on the verge of being appointed at United’s new technical director.

Orta and Karanka share the same Spanish nationality as well as their links at Boro, where they worked together for nearly 18 months until the latter was sacked as manager in March.
Orta stayed on for the final two months of the campaign but quit his role as part of the backroom team at Boro a week ago, soon after their relegation from the Premier League.
It now appears the Spaniard has a new role all but lined up at Elland Road as sole owner Andrea Radrizzani continues his shake-up of the club’s management structure.
Intriguingly, the recently-appointed Leeds director Ivan Bravo also hails from Spain and he could have a major effect on the shake-up in personnel at the top of the club.
