Millwall are close to signing Wimbledon striker Tom Elliott, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper have claimed on their transfer blog on their website (Monday, 5.34pm) that the Leeds academy product, 26, is set to quit Wimbledon for the south London club when his contract  runs out.

The Mirror report that the newly-promoted Championship club have swooped to sign Elliott after winning the League One play-off final earlier this week.

Elliott has previously said he has a big decision to make about his future as he entered the final weeks of his Wimbledon deal, which expires next month.

The forward began his career at Elland Road but struggled to make an impression and made just four senior appearances before moving north to Hamilton Academical in 2011 after loan spells at Macclesfield, Rotherham and Bury.

Elliott subsequently transferred to Stockport County and Cambridge United before he joined Wimbledon in July 2015.

Elliott scored 13 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for the Dons this season, with nine of his strikes coming in 39 league matches.

The big frontman has been a star performer for Wimbledon and swept the board in their Player of the Year awards.
