Former Juventus manager Antonio Conte is set to take over at Chelsea next season whilst Manchester City-bound boss Pep Guardiola has recently admitted he’s a huge fan of the 53-cap Italy international, leading to reports of both Premier League clubs launching rival bids during the summer transfer window.

But according to The Daily Star – who cite reports from Gazzetta Dello Sport – Manchester United are also a fixture in the race to sign the 28-year-old, with the Italian publication claiming the Blues and the Red Devils are ‘ready to pull heavy cheques’ if he becomes available.

The Old Trafford outfit still require a long-term partner to Chris Smalling, with utility man Daley Blind filling the void this season amid injuries to Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.
