Midfielder leaves Everton on permanent transfer; Mourinho wants Brazil defender at Man United

Miranda

According to HITC, Everton midfielder Francisco Junior has signed for Stromsgodset; whilst Calcio Mercato report that Jose Mourinho wants to sign Inter Milan defender Joao Miranda for Manchester United.

The former Portugal U21 moved to Goodison Park from Benfica in 2012 but managed just one senior appearance during four years with the Toffees, instead finding himself loaned out to Vitesse, Stromsgodset, Port Vale and Wigan Athletic.

As reported by HITC, who cite the club’s official website, the midfielder has now joined Stromsgodset permanently on a two-year deal. Upon joining the Norwegian outfit, the 24-year-old said; “I am very happy to be back at the club. I have a good relationship with many at the club, and I’m sure this is the right place to be for my future development. Now I look only forward to getting started.”

However, Junior is currently recovering from a groin injury and will continue his recovery on Merseyside before heading to Drammen, Norway in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, Calcio Mercato report that allegedly-incoming Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is targeting Inter Milan defender Joao Miranda. The Portuguese has already informed the Old Trafford outfit that he wants to make defensive additions during the summer transfer window and the Brazil centre-back is reportedly at the top of his shopping list.

The 31-year-old centre-half joined the San Siro ranks on a two-year loan last summer after claiming a Europa League title, a Copa del Rey and a La Liga title with former club Atletico Madrid. Nerazzurri have an €11million obligation to buy once the 6 foot 1 centre-half’s loan deal expires but we have seen clubs with Manchester United’s financial backing maneuver around such deals before.
