According to reports from The Daily Mail, Chelsea are set to sign MLS prodigy Matt Miazga in a £3.5million deal.

Already compared to legendary centre-back Jaap Stam and widely regarded as the best defender in the MLS at just 20 years of age, the New York Red Bulls star has the potential to become American football’s greatest ever product.

The USA international’s expected move to the Premier League was revealed earlier this week and although his buyers were initially unnamed, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United were all put in the frame after scouting him extensively during 2015.

But The Daily Mail have now confirmed that the Blues are the mystery club set to sign the 6 foot 4 centre-back, in a £3.5million deal that is expected to be officially announced by the MLS within the next 24 hours.

The west London club should get the deal over the line before the January transfer window slams shut as Miazga doesn’t require a work permit. He holds a Polish passport and previously represented Poland at U18 level.
