According to reports from The Express, Chelsea and Manchester United target Tahith Chong has revealed he wants to sign a new contract with current club Feyenoord. 

The 16-year-old first drew the Red Devils’ interest after impressing in the Premier Cup tournament held at their Carrington training complex and was later invited for a trial at Old Trafford, whilst recent reports have suggested Chelsea are also courting his services.

The Feyenoord prodigy can operate as a striker, a midfielder or a winger and has represented the Netherlands regularly at U16 level.

It was previously thought United had muscled off competition from their Premier League rivals to land Chong’s signature, but recent comments from the teenage talent suggest he intends to continue his development at De Kuip for the foreseeable future.

As quoted by The Express, Chong recently told Dutch outlet Fr12; “Feyenoord is and remains my first choice and we are still negotiating. It’s true that Manchester United are interested in me, but I want to just stay at Feyenoord.

“There is absolutely no question that I’m going out to the club. Feyenoord now is come up with a plan of how they see me in the coming years at the club. I am hopeful that it will be all right and that I’m going to sign a contract with Feyenoord.”

Chelsea and Manchester United face each other in the Premier League on Sunday, February 7th.
