According to reports from Fichajes via The Metro, in-demand Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Calhanoglu would prefer a move to the Premier League over Barcelona.
The 21 year-old has been dubbed ‘the new Mesut Ozil’ and is one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting prospects, particularly famed for his proficiency from dead ball situations.
That free kick expertise is mostly responsible for his career return of 46 goals and 36 assists in 156 appearances – including five goals and four assists in 18 outings this season.
Arsenal and Manchester United are both keen admirers of the Turkish international and the Red Devils reportedly launched a failed £25million bid on summer deadline day – whilst Fichajes also allege interest from European champions Barcelona.
Reports from October revealed that Leverkusen value their prized asset at a pricey yet realistic £29million, with CEO Michael Schade admitting the club has a ‘pain threshold’ in terms of offers received for their star players.
And according to Fichajes, Calhanoglu would prefer a £29million bid to be made by one of his Premier League suitors rather than the La Liga giants. They claim it’s the midfielder’s ‘dream’ to play in the English top flight.
