According to an exclusive from The Daily Star, Manchester City have entered Chelsea and Manchester United’s race to sign Anderlecht midfielder Youri Tielemans.
The 18 year-old has claimed back-to-back Young Player of the Year awards in the Belgian top flight and last season amassed an impressive 52 appearances across all competitions, bagging eight goals.
He’s started the current campaign equally brightly, netting four times in 17 appearances, and former manager Paul van Himst believes it’s only a matter of time before the Belgian wonder-kid leaves Constant Verdan Stock stadium for a bigger club.
Indeed, Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly held talks with the midfielder’s representatives in London last month, whilst Arsenal are also known admirers.
But according to The Star, yet another Premier League outfit has emerged in the race to sign the Belgium U21, who boasts 14 goals and 23 caps for his country across the youth levels, in the form of Manchester City. They hope their impressive Belgian continent of Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany can sway Tielemans towards an Etihad move.
The British tabloid rate the 5 foot 9 enforcer at around £30million, but warn that the English foursome face competition from Borussia Dortmund and European champions Barcelona.
