According to reports from The Express yesterday evening, Arsenal are considering a January swoop for prodigious Anderlecht midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The 18 year-old has claimed back-to-back Young Player of the Year awards in the Belgian top flight since his 2013 debut and last season amassed an impressive 52 appearances across all competitions – including six Champions League outings – to produce eight goals.

Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are all long-term admirers of the junior Belgium international, who boasts 13 goals and 22 caps for his country across the youth levels, but their chances of signing him during the summer ended in August as Tielemans put pen to paper on a new five-year deal.

According to The Express, however, who cite Italian publication CalcioMercato, that hasn’t put off the Gunners – likely due to the 5 foot 9 midfielder bagging five goals in eleven appearances this season, including a league return of three in seven.

They claim Arsenal are considering a January bid but are reluctant to meet Anderlecht’s £14.4million valuation.
