According to reports from The Daily Mail, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has made Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann his priority transfer target for the summer 2016 transfer window.

The France international scored 25 goals across all competitions last season after arriving at Vincente Calderon for a £22million fee in summer 2014 and has started the current campaign equally brightly, bagging four goals and two assists in 10 La Liga appearances before this weekend’s round of fixtures.

He was heavily linked with the Blues and Premier League rivals Manchester United during the summer and reports from earlier this month suggested the 24 year-old is still very much on the Old Trafford radar – whilst Spanish giants Real Madrid have also expressed an interest.

But according to The Daily Mail, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has now identified the former Real Sociedad talisman, who saw the club rise from the second tier to the Champions League during his spell at Anoeta, as his priority target for summer 2016.

Griezman’s new contact, signed during the summer, includes a £47million release clause. But the British newspaper claim Abramovich will be more than prepared to activate it after what looks set to be an incredibly disappointing 2015/16 campaign for the Premier League champions.
