According to reports from International Business Times this afternoon, West Ham co-chairman David Gold is hopeful of signing Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson permanently next summer.

The one-cap England international impressed on loan with the Hammers last term, making 32 appearances as they finished in 12th place under Sam Allardyce. He was allowed to return to Upton Park in the summer and has enjoyed a strong start to the season, netting twice in seven Premier League outings.

Gunners gaffer Arsene Wenger was reluctant to let the 23 year-old leave in July and resultantly tied him down to a five-year contract beforehand. But according to IBT, Irons chairman David Gold is still optimistic about signing the right-back permanently.

Along with Jenksinon, Alex Song is enjoying a second loan spell in East London whilst Manuel Lanzini joined the club temporarily during the summer with an option to buy. When quizzed on their long-term futures by fans, Gold replied on Twitter: “I would be disappointed if at least two aren’t made permanent. dg”

He then confirmed Lanzini’s transfer situation; “Yes we do have an option to buy Lanzini at the end of the season. dg.”
