6. Harry Kane

According to reports from London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has laughed off rumours claiming Manchester United want to sign star striker Harry Kane.

The 22 year-old shot to super-stardom and the forefront of Roy Hodgson’s England plans last term after netting 31 times across all competitions – including 21 goals in the Premier League to finish up as the division’s top scoring Englishman.

The 6 foot 2 striker struggled to revive that level of form during his first nine league outings of the campaign but got himself back on track last weekend with a stunning hat-trick against Bournemouth.

Manchester United were reportedly considering a £40million bid for Kane during the summer and reports this morning once again linked them with the six-cap international, alleging a potential offer between £50million and £60million.

But according to the Evening Standard, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has laughed the reports, dubbing them simply as rumours.

During his press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Monday night, the Argentine said; “I smile because the rumours are always there. The rumours are the rumours. Even now it is too early start speaking about rumours but you know in football it is normal.”

Spurs will feel particularly confident of keeping their talismanic front-man, having tied him down to a five-and-a-half-year contract in February.
