According to reports from talkSPORT this afternoon, Barcelona have joined the race to sign prodigious Arsenal target Riechedly Bazoer.
The Ajax starlet made his Eredivise debut last season and went on to score once in 22 appearances across all competitions for the Amsterdam outfit during the 2014/15 campaign.
But the central midfielder has really made his impression felt this term, featuring in all eight games amid Ajax’s rise to the division’s summit and bagging two assists in the process. That impressive form saw the 19 year-old earn his first call-up to the Netherlands’ senior squad earlier this month after registering 31 caps for Oranje at youth level.
Reports yesterday revealed Arsenal have revived their interest in Bazoer after originally tracking him as a 16 year-old. But according to talkSPORT, the north London outfit now face rather ferocious competition for the youngster’s signature from European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Citing Spanish publication Sport, the radio station’s website claim Bayern have been monitoring Bazoer for some time, whilst Barca sporting director Roberto Fernandez attended the Netherlands’ 3-2 defeat to Croatia last night in the hope of seeing the midfielder in action.
Unfortunately, he was not brought on by Danny Blind to earn an inaugural senior cap.
