According to reports from The Express this morning, Manchester United are still interested in signing Harry Kane despite the Tottenham Hotspur striker’s slow start to the season.
The 22 year-old was a phenomenon for the Lilywhites last season, emerging from the peripheries of the squad to become the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League with 21 goals in 34 appearances.
That saw the 6 foot 2 centre-forward claim the PFA Young Player of the Year award as well as a spot in the PFA Team of the Year but he’s struggled to reclaim that level of form this term, netting just once in nine league outings.
Regardless, The Express – who cite reports from CalcioMercato and beIN Sports – claim Louis van Gaal has “insisted” United continue to pursue the England international following an alleged £40million bid in June and a series of ‘discrete inquiries‘ throughout the summer transfer window.
The Express believe Kane would cost somewhere between £40million and £50million – although his price-tag has the potential to further escalate whilst on Three Lions duty at next summer’s European Championships.
