Harry Kane

According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, Manchester United have made ‘discrete enquiries’ into the availability of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane and are now expected to launch a fresh bid.

The 22 year-old was a phenomenon for the Lilywhites last season, emerging from the peripheries of the squad to become the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League with 21 goals in 34 appearances.

That saw the 6 foot 2 centre-forward claim the PFA Young Player of the Year award as well as a spot in the PFA Team of the Year – and he also netted just 80 seconds into his England debut against Lithuania in March.

That’s made Kane one of the most exciting strikers in the Premier League and reportedly convinced the Red Devils to launch a £40million bid in June.

Spurs have since attempted to fend off interest by offering the Three Lions starlet the vice captaincy at White Hart Lane, whilst Kane himself has often dismissed reports of a big-money move to Old Trafford.

But according to Mirror Football, Manchester United have sustained their interest in Kane with a series of ‘discrete enquiries’ throughout the summer, and are now ready to make another offer.

It follows a Premier League clash between the Red Devils and the Lilywhites on the opening day of the new season; in which the prodigious striker impressed without scoring and United, despite claiming a 1-0 win, lacked venom in the final third.

With Spurs incredibly reluctant to sell, however, the Carrington outfit face a tough task in striking a deal before September 1st.

How discreet is a enquiry when there at least a dozen references to it. The days of M.Utd picking Tottenham players, ie Carrick, whose career was revived by Spurs, and Berbatov are passed, the TV money means that Spurs will only sell if the player forces the move, Kane wont and if he were to try to he will be sold abroad.

Why sign for a club with a team in no way better than Spurs? In a year or two he can sign for a really big international club like Real if he continues to score. There is not one ManU player but DeGea that interests bigger clubs with truly great teams, but several Spurs players. 🙂
