Anwar El Ghazi

According to reports from Mirror Football on Saturday, Everton have joined Liverpool and Southampton in the race to sign Ajax prodigy Anwar El Ghazi.

The 6 foot 2 winger’s impressive development throughout the course of last season, bagging nine goals in 31 appearances to claim Ajax’s Talent of the Year award, generated plenty of interest from the Premier League and yonder.

But the 20 year-old has upped his game even further this term, netting seven times in just eight starts during only his second campaign at senior level. That leaves him joint-top of the Eredivisie’s scoring charts as well as second in the dribble rankings – his average of 2.6 per-match only bettered by Feyenoord’s Luciano Narsingh.

According to Mirror Football, Liverpool and Southampton have been keen on the Netherlands U21, who boasts three goals and twelve caps for his country across the youth levels, for some time.

But the British newspaper claim Everton have now ‘joined the hunt to sign El Ghazi after manager Roberto Martinez recently watched the youngster in action. They rate him at around £12million – an affordable sum for all three Premier League clubs.
