Secret meeting inspired win over Man United, claims Arsenal star

According to reports from The Telegraph yesterday evening, a private meeting between Arsenal’s players inspired their 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Gunners absolutely obliterated their title rivals at The Emirates yesterday, bagging three goals in the first twenty minutes – courtesy of Mesut Ozil and an Alexis Sanchez brace – before showing their defensive resilience and discipline to hold onto the clean sheet.

Many were concerned for the north London outfit’s morale prior to kick-off, having succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Olympiacos in the Champions League on Tuesday night – leading to a volatile response from manager Arsene Wenger in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

But England international Theo Walcott, who grabbed two assists against the Red Devils, has revealed a secret meeting between the players inspired Arsenal’s convincing performance.

Following the 3-0 victory, he said; “That was all for the manager without a doubt. The players spoke to each other on our own and we wanted to do this for the fans. It was the Arsenal of old, everything seemed to click. It sends a message to thePremier League we are here to be recognised no doubt.

“That first-half we were unbelievable, no one could have dealt with us. It was the best football I have been involved in. You could sense from kick-off that the desire was there. We should be playing like that every week.”

The win leaves the Gunners in second place, just two points behind title favourites and first place Manchester City. The two sides face each other at the Emirates in December; whilst the reverse fixture is in May.
