Viktor Fischer

According to reports from The Metro this morning, Arsenal have ‘entered the transfer race’ to sign highly-rated Ajax forward Viktor Fischer.

The 21 year-old boasts 22 goals in 71 appearances for the Eredivise outfit but hasn’t progressed as expected since his twelve-goal debut campaign in 2012/13, partly due to recurring injury problems.

The Denmark international is still regarded as one of the Dutch top flight’s more exciting prospects, however, and has been in good form this season, netting twice in just one league start and four outings from the bench.

The Metro claim Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is willing to take a punt on the young forward, who is most at home on the left wing but can also operate right or centrally, knowing that his age and potential will ensure some resale value should an Emirates move not work out.

The British newspaper rate Fischer at around £10million and believe Arsenal’s strong working relationship with Ajax will have a part to play in negotiations. The Gunners loaned striker Yaya Sanogo to the former Eredivisie champions in the summer.
