According to reports from Mirror Football this morning, in-demand striker Edinson Cavani has revealed he received a number of offers to leave PSG this summer.

The Uruguay international, who netted 31 times in 53 appearances across all competitions last season as the Parisians lifted a third consecutive Ligue 1 title, was strongly linked with Premier League duo Arsenal and Manchester United during the summer amid their search for added firepower.

The Gunners are believed to have balked at PSG’s £50million valuation of the 28 year-old, fearing his lack of resale value, during the final days of the transfer window.

And according to Mirror Football, Cavani has now confirmed he received plenty of offers to leave Parc de Princes this summer – although he refused to name the clubs involved.

He told French publication Journal du Diamanchi; “Many transfer opportunities presented themselves. But PSG has always trusted me, this is the club who can give me what is better.”

Cavani has continued his impressive strike-rate into the new season, bagging four goals in five league outings and netting against Malmo in the Champions League yesterday evening.
