According to reports from ESPN this afternoon, Manchester United are “ready to test Wolves’ resolve” with a £1million bid for striker prodigy Niall Ennis.

The youngster made his U21 level debut for the Championship outfit last season at just 15 years of age and has been training with the senior side since his 16th birthday in May.

He bagged his first goal for England U17s in a 7-3 win over Portugal last month, leading to reports of long-term interest from Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester City.

But according to ESPN, Manchester United – who invested heavily in young talent over the summer, namely £60million duo Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial – are determined to beat their title rivals to the teenage striker.

They’re keen to add Ennis to their academy ranks with the view to making him a future first team star and are allegedly ready to test Wolves’ resolve with an offer just above the £1million mark.

Considering how highly-rated the forward is around Molineux, however, it seems unlikely Wolves will accept United’s opening bid.

Tell utd and any other club to **** off, why have an academy just to sell off our top talent.
If they want him put a price on what he could be worth in five years.
