According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Schalke will only sell in-demand winger Julian Draxler this summer if they receive an ‘astronomical offer’.

The 21 year-old rose to acclaim with 13 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions in the 2012/13 campaign and bagged the Bundesliga’s Young Player of the Season award a year later.

Reports earlier this summer alleged Schalke are looking to cash in on the German international, who featured sparingly as Die Mannschaft lifted last summer’s World Cup, as they seek to revitalise a squad that missed out on Champions League qualification at the end of last season.

That’s lead to rumours of Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United reviving their long-term interest in the 6 foot 2 attacker. Meanwhile, Serie A champions Juventus have launched a £17.5million bid already – which the Veltins Arena outfit swiftly rejected.

And according to The Daily Star, who cite German publication Rheinischen Post, it would now take an ‘astronomical offer’ to convince Schalke to sell.

Those are the words of the club’s chief executive Horst Heldt, who said; “Our plan is not to sell Julian. That said, in this business it’s difficult to make definitive statements.”

“If another club makes an astronomical offer for a player, for the good of the club you must always at least consider it. We want to keep him, but we can only definitively put the issue to bed on August 31. To say anything else would not be honest.”
