Berahino

According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, Tottenham Hotspur are targeting West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino as the perfect strike partner to Harry Kane.

The Lilywhites forward finished up as the Premier League’s top-scoring Englishman last season with 21 goals in 34 appearances but the club’s other striking options – Emmanuel Adebayor and Robert Soldado – are both expected to leave White Hart Lane after disastrous campaigns.

And according to Mirror Football, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to sign the Baggies’ Berahino to fill the void. He wasn’t far behind Kane in the home-grown scoring charts last season, ranking third after Charlie Austin with 14 goals in 38 Premier League outings.

The Daily Star also moot Arsenal and Liverpool as long-term admirers of the Burundi-born attacker, who is the England U21s’ third all-time leading goalscorer after Alan Shearer and Francis Jeffers.

But according to Mirror Football, Spurs have now made Berahino their priority target, with the 21 year-old valued at around £15million.

West Brom manager Tony Pulis, however, is keen to tie down the 5 foot 11 attacker to a new long-term contract, as reported by The Daily Mail. They claim the Hawthorns boss wants to double Berahino’s wages to £30k per-week and extend his current deal way beyond it’s 2017 expiration.
