Arsenal plotting shock Man United double raid

|

Out - Jonny Evans

According to reports from Mirror Football on Saturday afternoon, Arsenal are targeting Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.

The Northern Ireland international has made 196 appearances for the Red Devils since his debut in 2007, going on to lift two Capital One Cups and three Premier League titles.

But he’s slumped down the pecking order since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in summer 2013, last season managing just twelve league starts under successor Louis van Gaal.

With just a term remaining on his Old Trafford contract, the Old Trafford outfit are widely expected to sell this summer, leading Mirror Football to claim Arsenal are considering a bid for the 27 year-old – although they face competition from West Bromwich Albion.

He’s not the only United outcast on the Emirates’ radar, however. According to reports last week, they’re also weighing up a move for club record signing Angel Di Maria, who struggled for form at the end of last season.

Although PSG are the firm front-runners in the race for his signature, Gunners gaffer Arsene Wenger is reportedly a huge fan of the Argentina international.

    what utter tripe.
Evan’s isn’t good enough for anyone in the top half of the Premier League.
There’s also absolutely no chance of this Di Maria deal happening. It’s all just come from someone quoting Wenger saying that he had tried to sign Di Maria years ago. Man United would not sell him to a rival, even though he didn’t have the best debut season. With the players they’re bringing in I think you’ll see United using him a lot more than last season as they’ll be able to offer him the freedom and the protection from the rest of the midfield that wasn’t really there last season.
All the same though, I hope he bombs again. He’s not coming to Arsenal.
