According to reports from Sky Sports yesterday afternoon, Lyon have tied down prodigious midfielder Nabil Fekir to a new five-year deal amid rumoured interest from two Premier League clubs.

The 21 year-old was in phenomenal form last season as the supporting act to Ligue 1 Golden Boot winner Alexandre Lacazette, bagging 13 goals and nine assists in 34 league outings to claim the division’s Young Player of the Year award.

That’s seen him emerge as a fixture in Didier Deschamps’ plans for the French national team, claiming four caps and one goal since his debut against Brazil in March.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool were both linked to Fekir last month, but their chances of signing him have all but evaporated.

According to Sky Sports, the attacking midfielder has now signed an improved five-year deal, increasing his stay at the club by one year and his salary considerably.

Upon penning extended terms at Stade de Gerland, Fekir told olweb.fr; “It was an easy decision – this club has captured my heart. I want to help us improve. There was no hesitation as I wanted to continue my adventure here.”
