FOOTBALL : Lyon vs Seville - Match amical - 23/07/2014

According to reports from London24 this morning, Lyon have offered attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir an improved contract in an effort to end rumours of a summer move to the Premier League.

The 21 year-old was in phenomenal form last season as the supporting act to Ligue 1 Golden Boot winner Alexandre Lacazette, bagging 13 goals and nine assists in 34 league outings to claim the division’s Young Player of the Year award.

That’s seen him emerge as a fixture in Didier Deschamps’ plans for the French national team, claiming four caps and one goal since his debut against Brazil in March.

The Express linked Arsenal and Liverpool to Fekir earlier this month, whilst also claiming Lyon value him at around £25million, despite the attacker insisting; “While in football it is said that you never know what the future holds, I will stay at Lyon regardless.”

But according to reports from London24 this morning, the Stade de Gerland outfit are taking further measures to deter interest from the France international’s Premier League suitors by offering an improved contract.

The deal will extend Fekir’s current terms by a further year until 2020, but will also include a significant pay rise.
