Alexandre Lacazette

According to reports from The Express this morning, in-demand forward Alexandre Lacazette could hand in a transfer request at Lyon to force a summer move to the Premier League.

The France international has just come to the end of an incredible season in Ligue 1, netting 27 times to claim the division’s Golden Boot and Player of the Year award as well as a second consecutive slot in the Team of the Year.

That impressive haul was only surpassed throughout Europe’s five leading top flights by Ballon d’Or duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, whilst four extra strikes in the auxiliary tournaments brought Lacazette’s total for the campaign to 31.

Despite three years remaining on his current deal, Lyon have been attempting to tie the 24 year-old down to an improved contract for some time. But a rift between club, player and agent emerged last month when David Venditelli claimed Lyon had used different figures when discussing his client’s wages privately and publicly, dropping from €6million to €3.8million respectively.

And according to The Express, who cite French publication L’Equipe, the winger-forward’s discussions over a new deal has further stalled, which could lead to a formal transfer request before the end of the summer window.

Lacazette knows he’s attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, whilst The Express also moot Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG as potential suitors.
