Nathaniel Clyne

According to reports from The Metro this morning, Liverpool have agreed to meet Southampton’s £15million valuation of right-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The 24 year-old has just come to the end of a strong campaign at St. Mary’s, playing a vital role in the Saints recording the second-best goals conceded column in the Premier League by averaging the fifth-most tackles per match, 3.3, of any player in the division.

That’s seen him break into the Three Lions’ starting Xi and attract interest from some of the Premier League’s top clubs, namely Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United – as This Is Futbol revealed in May.

The Reds are lining up the England international as a replacement for Glen Johnson, but saw an initial £10million bid rejected last month.

Since, however, Clyne has reportedly snubbed the advances of Manchester United, whilst Southampton have signed the former Crystal Palace youngster’s replacement in Portugal international Cedric Soares.

And according to The Metro, Liverpool have now agreed to meet the Saints’ asking price of £15million. Should the deal be concluded, he’ll join former Southampton stars Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren on Merseyside.

If you can find anywhere that Southampton put a price of only 15 million on Clyne you will do well that figure was made up by the press and Liverpool and mirrors previous transfer dealings between the two clubs where Liverpool bid low then raise the bid to a factious amount in this case 15 million.

Where can you find Southampton ever quoting a price for Clyne of only 15 million ? You will find out that figure has been made up by Liverpool and the press, why would Southampton set a price it’s not logical. This mirrors previous liverpool actions involving transfers between the two clubs a very low bid followed by saying the price is set a little higher, then bidding that amount and then putting pressure on the selling club to sell for that figure. Don’t be at all surprised if Southampton reject a bid from Liverpool of only 15 million and then liverpool moaning about moving goalposts when an expectation has been set for the player.

Maybe the fact he only has 1 year left on contract and no intentions of signing a new 1 southampton be stupid not to put a valuation on him.
