According to reports from The Express this morning, Liverpool are on the verge of wrapping up an £18million deal for Hoffenheim star Roberto Firmino.

The attacking midfielder has been in sensational form over the last two campaigns, bagging 23 goals and 21 assists in 66 Bundesliga outings.

That’s seen the 23 year-old ascend to starting status within the Brazil fold, netting four times and claiming nine caps since his international debut in October, whilst attracting interest from Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United, as This Is Futbol revealed in May.

Earlier this month, Firmino’s agent Roger Wittmann told the press he expects Firmino to move abroad this summer, leading to rumours that Manchester United had secured a £13million deal for the former Figueirense youngster.

But it appears the Anfield outfit have in fact won the race for the attacker’s signature, bringing him in as a replacement for seemingly Manchester City-bound winger Raheem Sterling.

According to The Express, Liverpool are on the verge of completing a deal worth £18million with a five-year contract on the table. The Metro go one step further in claiming the club and Firmino have already agreed personal terms.
