Carlos Bacca

According to reports from The Daily Mail this morning, Sevilla director Monchi has warned potential suitors of Carlos Bacca that they’ll have to pay the striker’s release clause in full to sign him this summer.

The Colombian international has been in excellent form since moving to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan two summers ago, going on to fire Sevilla to consecutive Europa League titles with 49 goals in 106 appearances – including 14 goals in Europe.

That’s generated plenty of Premier League interest in the 28 year-old front-man. As This Is Futbol revealed in May, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked as potential suitors – with all three clubs expected to make changes to their strike forces this summer.

The former Club Brugge star’s contract is known to include a £21.5million release clause, however, and according to reports from The Daily Mail, any buyer will have to meet it in full.

“If someone wants Bacca, they have to pay his clause. He’s told us that it’s his desire to stay with the club and I don’t see any other possibility,” said sporting director Monchi, a former goalkeeper for Los Rojiblancos.

“Bacca’s contract includes obligations for the club and the player, but if a club wants to pay his clause, there’s nothing we can do about that.

“I really think he’ll stay here because the player and Sevilla want it so. We have no intention of selling him,” he added.
