According to reports from The Sun yesterday afternoon, Arsenal are preparing a £15million bid for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnian international has amassed 71 goals in 185 appearances since arriving at the Etihad in January 2011, despite often succumbing to the role of supersub, and played a pivotal role in the Citizens claiming the 2013/14 Premier League title in the absence of first-choice centre-forward Sergio Aguero.

That lead Jose Mourinho to claim Dzeko should’ve lifted the PFA Player of the Year award instead of Luis Suarez in May 2014, as reported by The Guardian, which in turn has resulted in copious rumours alleging the Chelsea boss to be a long-term admirer of the 6 foot 4 target man.

As This Is Futbol revealed on Wednesday, Chelsea are believed to be considering a the 29 year-old as a potential replacement for departing icon Didier Drogba, with Dzeko’s days at the Etihad seemingly numbered following the £25million arrival of former Swansea striker Wilfried Bony in January.

But according to The Sun, Arsenal – who have been linked with Dzeko ever since his Wolfsburg days, as reported by Goal in 2009 – have now entered the race of the front-man’s signature.

They’re reportedly preparing a £15million bid – but according to This Is Futbol, City’s valuation is £5million higher.
