According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, Chelsea intend on further boosting their Premier League-winning squad with four major signings this summer – including two Manchester United targets.

According to the British tabloid, the Blues are targeting winger-forward duo Alexandre Lacazette and Antoinie Griezmann, who have scored the third-most and fourth-most league goals respectively throughout Europe’s five leading top flights this season – bettered only by Ballon d’Or duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

They also want a summer deal for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, who manager Jose Mourinho described as “the best young defender in the world” last year – as reported by Sky Sports in March 2014.

And Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita is seen as a potential replacement for Petr Cech, who has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal or Liverpool this summer – as This Is Futbol revealed last month.

But it will be disappointing news for Manchester United. They were strongly linked with Atletico Madrid forward Griezmann last summer ahead of his move to Vincente Calderon – as reported by The Express in July 2014 – and again by The Daily Star last month.

They’re also known admirers of Raphael Varane – as The Express claimed in March – but it appears Chelsea have taken the initiative in the race to sign both.
