According to reports from The Express this morning, Ilkay Gundogan’s well-documented demands to leave Borussia Dortmund could force the Bundesliga club to lower his price-tag.
The German international has made no secret of his desire to leave Westfalen this summer, following a 2014/15 campaign in which the Black-Yellows failed to qualify for the Champions League and resultantly parted with iconic manager Jurgen Klopp.
And last week, Dortmund were forced to confirm the midfielder had refused to extend his contract past the end of next season via their official Twitter account – as reported by Bundesliga.com.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all considered to be amongst the 24 year-old’s most viable suitors for the coming window – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this week – and The Express believe the Premier League trio could land him on the cheap this summer.
Dortmund have been fairly vocal about Gundogan’s situation. For example, Sporting Director Michael Zorc recently told Sky Sports; “He would like to move this summer. That’s what he told us. Depending on the value of the offers on the table for us, we will decide accordingly.”
And The Express claim that candid approach could cost the Black-Yellows dearly – alleging potential suitors will be inclined to bid less generously knowing the former Nuremberg youngster is already pushing for a move.
Last month, The Daily Mail valued him at £15million. What effect recent revelations will have on his price-tag remains to be seen.
