Berahino

According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Manchester City are targeting West Bromwich Albion prodigy Saido Berahino ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Baggies striker has been in superb form this season, netting 20 times in 44 appearances across all competitions including 14 goals in the Premier League – following a stunning brace against reigning champions Chelsea on Monday evening.

As This Is Futbol revealed yesterday morning, West Brom intend to tie the 21 year-old down to a bumper contract worth £50k per week within the next few weeks and resultantly make him the club’s top earner, amid long-term interest from Liverpool and Tottenham – who could both launch bids in the coming window.

But in desperate need of young home-grown talent, the Citizens have now entered the race for the England U21, who won his age group’s Player of the Year award for 2014.

According to reports from The Express earlier this season, the Hawthorns outfit value Berahino at £23.5million, but The Daily Star claim Manuel Pellegrini’s side are only willing to offer £20million.
