Chelsea and Man United target keen on £30m Anfield move

|

In - Christian Benteke

According to reports from ESPN this morning, Aston Villa star Christian Benteke is keen on a £30million move to Liverpool this summer.

The 24 year-old has been in superb form since Tim Sherwood took Villa Park’s managerial reins from Paul Lambert in February, claiming twelve goals in his last eleven appearances across all competitions – bringing his total for the Villains to an impressive 49 goals in 99 outings.

Amid his scintillating run, Sherwood has admitted the Belgium international could force a move away from the Birmingham-based club this summer – as This Is Futbol revealed last month.

Chelsea and Manchester United have since been mooted as potential suitors of the £30million-rated target man, as This Is Futbol revealed last week, along with Liverpool and Serie A outfit Roma.

But according to ESPN, Anfield remains the 6 foot 3 striker’s preferred destination. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to reshuffle his strike force this summer following a campaign in which Daniel Sturridge, Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli have netted just eight Premier League goals between them.

It follows reports yesterday morning claiming the Merseysiders are preparing a £100k per-week contract offer for Benteke – as reported by This Is Futbol.

Complete lack of substance in the article very poor journalism by anybody who recycles unfounded rumours that if you think for 30secs make no sense, why would one of European best strikers want to leave a Premiership club and join another club that are also rans in the league no champs league and get him self stuck at another old great club that like villa isn’t great any more I mean if villa win the fa cup they would be a more successful club than Liverpool over the last decade as they would hold an fa cup to liverpools carling cup, it’s simple he will remain at villa until a champs league team comes in the way sherwood has got villa playing they might be challenging Liverpool for the Europa league places next year, please before recycling poor article give your head a shake and weigh up whether what you print could actually be true

No offence mate but Christian Benteke would definitely be interested in moving to Liverpool.

    • Giallo says:

Wether u like it or not Liverpool is bigger than astonvilla.

    • Misery Joe says:

Sherwood is a buffoon, Villa will be mid-table at absolute best next season. Liverpool and Rodgers are no strangers to buffoonery but they’re clearly on another level to Villa (as much as I hate to say it).

  • Craig kellett says:

Villa will win FA cup benteke will stay end of

  • Ant says:

Christian Benteke can do much better than Liverpool, this lad is destined for Barcelona/ Bayern Munich etc he is that goid and there is no proof that he wants to go this summer. He is 24, and will be determined to play at every opportunity ahead of the Euros. If a champions league offers mega bucks then he will leave, anything less and he will stay. Benteke will be prem top scorer under Sherwood next season.

Good answer by a person supporting a club that ain’t got no history. Winning a single cup cannot make any club bigger than LFC.

  • avfc says:

No offence the pair of you, but Chelsea he would warm the bench and Liverpool will be on a par with us next season !

  • Irish Villan says:

There is no reason for him to go to Liverpool. With all due respect to LFC yes you are probably a bigger club than Villa but why would a twenty four year old commit himself to a club going nowhere for the next two years at least. When he could wait for a bigger club to come in. No,terrible article full of back clapping , he will in all probability join Arsenal with Sterling.

do sum research his agent laughed at a liverpool move

  • Robbi says:

Villa may have been dirt poor recently but to say they have no history shows an impressive level of football ignorance.
