According to reports from The Express this morning, Real Madrid want to re-sign Juventus prodigy Alvaro Morata, following the striker’s opening goal against his former club in the Champions League semi-final.
The Spain international netted Juve’s first in a surprise 2-1 win over Los Blancos on Tuesday, bringing his Old Lady total to twelve goals in 42 appearances since swapping the Bernabeu for Turin in a €20million deal last summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool were both linked to the 22 year-old by a separate report from The Express in March, claiming Juventus would let Morata leave to free up funds for Manchester United misfit Radamel Falcao.
But Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to activate a buy-back clause in the 6 foot 2 striker’s contract. The European champions can re-sign Morata, who scored 10 La Liga goals during his Real tenure, for £23million this summer. They could wait until 2016 instead, when the front-man’s fee would rise to £26.1million.
