Goalkeeper - Petr Cech

According to reports from The Daily Mail this morning, Inter Milan have emerged as shock suitors in the race to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

The Czech international is indisputably one of the greatest goalkeepers in Premier League history, boasting four league titles, the 2012 Champions League, three Golden Gloves and 332 league outings as the Blues’ No.1.

At 32 years of age he’s still in his prime and this season he’s conceded just one goal in six Premier League appearances. But now stuck behind the supremely talented Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, he’s widely expected to move on this summer.

As This Is Futbol revealed last month, Arsenal and Liverpool are considered to be his likeliest suitors, with both needing reinforcements between the sticks in time for next season, but Roman Abramovich is reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival – as This Is Futbol reported in a separate article.

And according to The Daily Mail, Inter Milan have emerged as a viable alternative. Their No.1 Samir Handanovic could be on his way to Manchester United this summer – as The Mail claimed last week – and Cech would be a more than effective replacement.

Wealthy owner Erick Thohir can certainly afford his wages, but a lack of Champions League football could deter the Chelsea man’s interest.
