According to reports from talkSPORT this morning, West Ham have joined Liverpool and Newcastle’s race to sign Marseille front-man Andre Pierre Gignac.
The 29 year-old’s career hasn’t always been smooth sailing, with Ligue 1 fans once regularly singing ‘Un Big Mac pour Gignac” to mock the Frenchman’s weight.
But he’s been in fantastic form over the last three years, bagging 60 goals in his last 118 appearances for L’OM – including 18 strikes in Ligue 1 this season.
That’s seen him ascend to second in the division’s scoring charts, only bettered by Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette on 26, but Gignac looks set to leave Stade Velodrome this summer upon the expiration of his contract.
And according to talkSPORT, West Ham have now weighed into the war for his signature, alongside Liverpool and Newcastle – who were linked to the 6 foot 1 striker in a separate talkSPORT article in March.
Under the bosman ruling, all three Premier League clubs have been legally allowed to enter pre-contract negotiations with Gignac since the end of the January window, meaning West Ham need waste no time in opening transfer proceedings.
But talkSPORT also claim the 19-cap France international already has some offers on the table, from an unnamed club in Turkey and Russian side Dynamo Kyiv.
