According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, Manchester United and Arsenal are yet to make offers for rumoured target Mats Hummels.
The Borussia Dortmund star is widely expected to leave Westfalen this summer after the club’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League tournament and the subsequent sacking of Jurgen Klopp.
Widely regarded as one of the top central defenders in world football, affirming such status last summer by lifting the 2014 World Cup with the German national team, both Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked to the 26 year-old – as This Is Futbol reported earlier this month.
But recent claims from Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc suggest the recent links are largely tabloid speculation.
In a recent interview with Kicker magazine, quoted by The Star, he said; “As far as I know, Hummels’s contract still runs until 2017. We did not receive any offer that we should think about.”
He did admit, however, that changes are expected in the coming transfer window. “There will surely be some changes to the team this summer – maybe more changes than in recent years – but we won’t radically change our team,” he added.
